Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for the Graduate Engineer position at Industrus Engineering. I am currently a final-year Civil Engineering student and work as an Undergraduate Asset Engineer on the WestConnex Operation and Maintenance contract. This role has provided me with strong exposure to large-scale transport infrastructure, asset management practices, and multidisciplinary collaboration, making me well suited to your Graduate Program.

3.1 Commitment to ethical conduct and professional accountability

In my role on the WestConnex O&M contract, I am responsible for reviewing maintenance work orders and Codes of Maintenance Standards to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. I conduct regular data integrity audits and carefully document and escalate any non-compliant or inconsistent items through appropriate internal processes. This has reinforced my understanding of ethical responsibility, transparency, and accountability in engineering practice, particularly within safety-critical infrastructure environments.

3.2 Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with engineers and stakeholders

I regularly communicate with engineers, contractors, and client representatives during maintenance planning meetings and reporting activities. I present technical information clearly, contribute to discussions on corrective and reactive maintenance, and follow up with stakeholders to confirm understanding and agreed actions. These experiences have strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

3.3 Ability to engage with a creative, innovative, and proactive environment

My work environment encourages continuous improvement, and I have actively contributed to enhancing asset management processes. I have supported improvements to asset classification, criticality, and job plans within IBM Maximo, enabling more proactive maintenance planning. This experience has developed my ability to think critically, suggest improvements, and engage positively in innovative engineering environments.

3.4 Demonstrated ability to use and manage information

Working across a network of over 250,000 assets, I manage large volumes of asset and maintenance data on a regular basis. I analyse trends, prepare reports for KPI and assurance requirements, and ensure data accuracy through structured audits. This has strengthened my ability to manage information effectively and use data to support informed engineering decisions.

3.5 Ability to manage personal performance in a professional environment

Balancing full-time study with professional responsibilities has required strong time management and self-discipline. I prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and proactively seek feedback to improve my performance. This approach has enabled me to consistently deliver quality work while continuing to develop professionally.

3.6 Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and show leadership when required

I work closely within a multidisciplinary team and actively contribute to team meetings, task coordination, and knowledge sharing. I have also supported colleagues by assisting with technical tasks and helping prioritise high-risk activities during busy periods. These experiences have strengthened my teamwork skills and demonstrated my ability to step into leadership roles when required.

I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss my application and can be contacted via phone or email at your convenience. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to Industrus Engineering and have attached my resume for your consideration.

Kind Regards,

Jaymes Vasilevski
